Meet Waleska Crowe
Waleska Crowe is a WASH Program Strategist and Community Engagement Specialist. She has over 14 years of experience in WASH. From 2016 to 2022 she served as Deputy Director of Engineers Without Borders Guatemala, and previously she was co-founder of one NGO and three social businesses that are still operating in Guatemala. She has also participated as a Teaching Fellow in the National NGO Program on Humanitarian Leadership led by the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, the WASH in Healthcare Facilities Community of Practice Steering Committee and the WASH Rotary Action Group (WASHRAG). She has direct experience with a wide range of impact models on multiple sides of the ecosystem – market-based and traditional charity; implementing organizations, business incubators and as an entrepreneur.
A K’iche Mayan and Rotarian born and raised in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, she has a calling to inspire people to create change and solve the challenges facing the communities she loves. She is a bilingual and people-focused leader who possesses a deep understanding of poverty and the challenges it brings, along with an understanding of how WASH interventions can provide people with the opportunity to escape the poverty cycle. During 2022, Waleska received the Rudy Herman medal as Rotarian of the year for her service.
Waleska loves spending time in nature with her husband and two sons, as well as writing and swimming.
